The Cricket Association of Bengal has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India to postpone the upcoming Ranji Trophy match between Bengal and Kerala, scheduled for October 26, due to Cyclone Dana’s threat to West Bengal. The cyclone’s potential impact on safety and weather conditions prompted this request Ā¹ Ā² Ā³.
Cyclone Dana is expected to make landfall between Thursday night and Friday morning, bringing heavy to extremely heavy rain and thunderstorms to Kolkata, despite the city not being in the direct path of the cyclone Ā². This weather forecast, combined with the region’s recent rain disruptions, led the CAB to seek a schedule adjustment.
The match’s original venue, Kalyani Ground, was already shifted to JU Campus Ground in Salt Lake due to rain concerns Ā². Bengal’s previous matches have been severely impacted by weather, including a washed-out game against Bihar and a drawn match against Uttar Pradesh Ā¹ Ā².
The CAB has also requested the BCCI to reschedule the Under-23 team’s match against Railways, set for October 27 in Kalyani Ā¹ Ā³. Bengal currently ranks third on the points table with four points, while Kerala holds second place with seven points Ā³.
