Allah Ghazanfar, Afghanistan’s talented off-spinner, made headlines yesterday when he took six wickets for 26 runs, dismantling Bangladesh’s batting lineup in their first ODI match at Sharjah Ā¹. This impressive performance led to Afghanistan’s 92-run victory over Bangladesh Ā¹ Ā².
Ghazanfar’s spell began with the dismissal of Tanzid Hasan, followed by the crucial wickets of Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Mushfiqur Rahim, Rishad Hossain, Taskin Ahmed, and Shoriful Islam Ā¹. His teammates, Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Azmatullah Omarzai, chipped in with two and one wickets, respectively, to secure the win Ā¹.
It’s worth noting that Bangladesh’s chase was going smoothly at 120/2 and 132/3, but Ghazanfar’s magic sparked a dramatic collapse, reducing them to 139/9 Ā¹. Afghanistan’s captain, Hashmatullah Shahidi, praised Ghazanfar, calling him a “special talent” with a bright future ahead Ā¹.
Unfortunately for Bangladesh, this loss has been compounded by an injury to Mushfiqur Rahim, who fractured his left index finger while keeping wickets and will miss the remaining two ODIs Ā³.
