Jason Gillespie, Pakistan’s interim white-ball head coach, has expressed his disappointment over Cricket Australia’s lack of promotion for Pakistan’s white-ball tour. He feels that Cricket Australia’s priority lies with the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy series against India, rather than the recent ODI series against Pakistan Ā¹ Ā².
Gillespie pointed out that he didn’t see any advertising or promotion of the Pakistan series, which was surprising given the excitement around the tour Ā¹ Ā². He acknowledged that the official broadcasters, Fox, did a great job promoting the series, but it was clear where Cricket Australia’s priorities lay.
This lack of promotion didn’t seem to affect Pakistan’s performance, though, as they secured a historic 2-1 ODI series win over Australia – their first in Australia in 22 years Ā³. Gillespie was pleased with his team’s convincing victory, especially after exposing some flaws in Australia’s batting Ā¹ Ā².
Now, Australia’s focus shifts to the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, a five-match Test series against India starting November 22 in Perth Ā². It’ll be interesting to see how they bounce back from their ODI series loss.
