Jimmy Logan is a legendary figure in Notts County’s history, and his hat-trick in the 1894 FA Cup final is still celebrated to this day! He scored three goals in Notts County’s 4-1 victory over Bolton Wanderers at Goodison Park on March 31, 1894 Ā¹ Ā² Ā³. This achievement was all the more impressive considering Notts County was a Second Division team at the time, making them the first non-top-flight team to win the FA Cup Ā¹ Ā² Ā³.
Logan’s football career was marked by his incredible talent and versatility. He started out at Ayr United, then moved to Sunderland, and later played for Aston Villa before joining Notts County Ā¹ Ā² ā“. His time at Notts County was particularly noteworthy, as he scored 21 goals in 21 games, guiding the team to their first FA Cup final Ā¹ Ā² ā“.
Sadly, Logan’s life was cut short when he died of pneumonia at just 25 years old Ā¹ Ā² ā“. Despite his tragic passing, his legacy lives on, and he remains an iconic figure in Notts County’s history. In fact, in 2016, fans raised funds to give Logan a proper headstone and named a street near Loughborough FC’s stadium “James Logan Way” in his honor Ā².
